A respected law firm located in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a skilled Litigation Associate with 1-3 years of experience to join its expanding team. This opportunity is ideal for a driven attorney with a background in insurance defense or coverage litigation, looking to grow within a dynamic legal environment that values open communication, professional integrity, and collaboration. The role involves managing a diverse caseload for national clients and working closely with senior legal professionals.
Duties:
Prepare, draft, and manage legal pleadings, motions, and memoranda
Conduct detailed legal research and apply findings effectively
Handle written discovery and dispositive motions
Take and defend depositions of clients, experts, and witnesses
Participate in mediations and represent clients in court proceedings
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and team members
Evaluate client documentation and prepare case assessments and reports
Manage multiple litigation matters across state and federal jurisdictions
Requirements:
Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience practicing law
Experience in insurance defense and/or coverage litigation preferred
Licensed to practice in Wisconsin
Additional court admissions are a plus
Familiarity with civil procedure in both state and federal courts
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active Wisconsin State Bar membership
Skills:
Strong legal analysis and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently
Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload with attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools
Capable of working independently and within a collaborative team setting
