Job Title:
Tax Senior - Hedge Funds

Job Responsibilities:
Tax seniors in the Hedge Fund Tax practice are responsible for identifying complex tax issues and providing comprehensive tax analyses for a variety of hedge fund clients and their affiliates. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, related tax adjustments, and aggregate allocations.
- Distinguishing between trader and investor determinations and identifying necessary federal, international, and state investor reporting.
- Performing detail-level reviews of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Conducting research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities with support from the Washington National Tax group.
- Building relationships by coordinating and communicating with client contacts to gather necessary information.
- Training, mentoring, and supervising new and experienced-level staff.
- Attending required training specific to the company and sector.

Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week.
- 3+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related field.
- Active accreditation obtained, in process, or willingness to obtain one of the following:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office, if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications:
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work, clients, and industries/sectors served.

Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 firm.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and familiarity with aggregate allocations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.

Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers a wide range of factors that influence compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials associated with the job's location. Typically, individuals are not hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $151,580.
Candidates may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program. Awards, if any, depend on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
