Job Responsibilities
The Vice President, TP&R Business Entity Tax Specialist at the company is responsible for the following duties:
- Conduct research, writing, and provide advice on substantive and compliance-related tax issues at both federal and state levels concerning business entities. These entities include partnerships, S Corporations, privately-held C corporations, LLCs, and other state law entities.
- Collaborate with financial advisors and occasionally their clients to address tax-related matters.
- Stay informed about the latest legislative, judicial, and regulatory technical tax developments concerning business entities, individual taxation, and generic entity taxation issues.
- Address ongoing income tax and estate planning questions related to business entity taxation and planning, and assist with generic income tax inquiries as time allows.
- Assist in reviewing documents related to entity transactions, particularly in the estate planning context, in collaboration with other estate planning specialists.
- Participate in teleconferences with clients, advisors, and attorneys to explain technical tax issues and potential planning ideas related to business entity taxation and planning.
- Contribute to and update technical educational materials, including client-facing Insight memos and internally directed Technical Advisory and training memos.
- Develop training materials for on-site training seminars and teleconferences, and participate in periodic advisor training.
- Conduct training sessions for various departments, including tax compliance groups.
- Contribute to policy determinations regarding tax preparation positions in areas with uncertainty involving pass-through and other business entity tax issues.
Education and Experience Information
Candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A is required.
- Significant experience in business entity taxation (5+ years) at the federal and state levels, including practical applications in estate planning. Experience with investor issues involving private equity and hedge funds is considered a plus.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with confidence in oral advisory and educational responsibilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- An independent learner with a continuous desire to develop ongoing expertise in the subject matter.
- Ability to collaborate well with others when contributing to policy determinations.
Salary Information
The expected base salary for the position based in Albany, New York, United States, ranges from $80,000 to $250,000. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if they are active employees as of the fiscal year-end.
