Job Title: 711 Clerkship - Paid

Job Responsibilities:
The 711 Clerk is entrusted with a variety of responsibilities that provide hands-on, challenging, and relevant work experience within the Cook County Court System. Under the guidance and mentorship of an Assistant State’s Attorney, the 711 Clerk is expected to:

- Conduct legal research and prepare memos on pending legal issues.
- Partner with counsel regarding case management and procedural requirements.
- Assist with courtroom proceedings, including preparation of daily court calls and breakdown of the court call at the end of court.
- Prepare motions, answers, and other legal filings as required.
- Assist with the preparation of discovery, including video, audio, and document evidence review and organization.
- Interview witnesses and law enforcement personnel.
- Assist with motions and trials as needed.
- Assist in the notification of witnesses.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be eligible for the 711 Clerkship:

- Must be a rising 3L law student at an ABA-approved law school or qualify for a 711 license if in an alternative law school program.
- Must be in good standing with their law school, maintaining a GPA of or above, and not be on any type of academic probation.
- Must have, or be able to obtain prior to the start of the clerkship, a 711 license.
- Experience with Moot Court and/or Mock Trial is preferred.

Salary Information:
The position is classified as Non-Union/Hourly, with a full-time schedule of 32-40 hours a week. The pay rate for this internship is $21 per hour.

Additional Information:
The CCSAO Law Clerk/Volunteer Internship Program is highly competitive, offering participants an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the various criminal divisions of the Cook County Court System. This opportunity is specifically available to rising 3L law students with an anticipated graduation date of May or December 2027.
