Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Columbus, North Carolina, is seeking a motivated Civil Litigation Associate to join its dynamic legal team. This role focuses on representing individuals and businesses in civil legal disputes, including property, contract, and tort matters. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a client-centered approach, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle a robust caseload in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct client consultations for new matters

  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and depositions

  • Perform legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other filings

  • Participate in routine case reviews with legal staff and leadership

  • Provide case strategy input and support cross-functional collaboration within the Civil Law team

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients across multiple formats (in-person, phone, email, video)

  • Manage a high-volume docket effectively from initiation to resolution

  • Participate in internal training and development sessions

  • Partner with an assigned case manager for logistical and administrative support

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina, in good standing

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently within a team-based structure

  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and written/oral communication skills

  • Readiness to attend court proceedings and manage deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical thinking

  • Effective case and time management

  • Comfort with technology and case management software

  • Exceptional interpersonal and client service abilities

  • Professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential matters
