Job Title: Director - Strategic Financing Services - Applications and Strategic Planning
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Application and Strategic Planning activities for Community Development Entities (CDEs), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Community Lenders, and Nonprofits collectively known as Community Development Organizations.
- Assist Community Development Organizations in building internal and external capacity, clarifying their Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV), and formalizing and executing their strategic plans.
- Lead a team of Application Writers and Community Development Specialists.
- Manage the process of writing New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) Applications and other grant writing processes for clients seeking funding from various programs.
- Expand the portfolio of clients and work collaboratively internally and externally to achieve measurable results for the team, clients, and communities served.
- Cultivate a healthy team culture and coordinate workflow for the NMTC application writing team.
- Draft, review, and prepare NMTC Allocation Applications and supporting documents.
- Write and review business strategies, community outcomes, and other narratives to maximize scoring and increase the likelihood of successful outcomes.
- Collaborate with clients to identify and source NMTC pipeline opportunities tailored to unique CDE needs.
- Manage other grant and application writing opportunities for quality and timely submissions.
- Establish relationships with CDFIs, CDEs, and various community development stakeholders.
- Assist clients with formalizing their organizational structures and frameworks.
- Underwrite and structure NMTC transactions.
- Support and prepare submissions for relevant certifications.
- Help organizations develop sustainable financial plans and secure private investment commitments.
- Manage a pipeline of community development finance investing, lending, and growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with various teams to identify and develop grant writing opportunities aligned with compliance needs.
- Coordinate with The Innovate Fund (TIF) and company staff on strategic planning initiatives.
- Travel requirement: 20%.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA license, MBA, JD, LLM, or a Master’s Degree (other field-related certifications may be considered).
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated progressive experience in community development finance, tax credit finance, CDE/CDFI Lending, structured finance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of tax credit financing required, with specific experience with NMTC strongly preferred.
- Experience working with borrowers, lenders, investors, and Community Development Organizations.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex issues.
- Expert knowledge of tax credit finance reporting required, with specific experience with CDFI Fund’s AMIS reporting strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial and highly motivated to make internal and external connections.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Strong sense of urgency and shared sense of mission.
Salary Information:
- Pay Range: $146,395-$328,800.
