Job Title: Corporate Counsel, Amazon Health Services
Job Responsibilities:
The Corporate Counsel will join the Regulatory, Operations, and Clinical Legal Team supporting Amazon One Medical. The primary responsibilities include:
- Advising teams developing new clinical service lines on various legal aspects such as Corporate Practice of Medicine, Fraud, Waste and Abuse, Anti-kickback and Physician Self-Referral (Stark) Law, ERISA, HIPAA, direct practice acts, and insurance regulations.
- Creating scalable strategies at a national level to ensure compliance with practice of medicine requirements, scope of practice for Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), licensure, supervision, prescribing, and telehealth.
- Leading legal support for Quality, Population Health, and Patient Safety teams, providing counsel on the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act, human subject research regulations, FDA requirements, and other healthcare regulations.
- Consulting and collaborating with healthcare compliance teams and litigation counsel on matters such as medical malpractice, board complaints, and investigations.
- Effectively utilizing outside counsel and advisors to support legal activities.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of legal experience.
- Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a healthcare regulatory attorney is preferred, with at least 1 year of experience working in an in-house capacity in a health system, health tech organization, health plan, or healthcare-related government agency advising providers and healthcare business leaders.
Salary Information:
The compensation for this position reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500 per year in the lowest geographic market up to $229,000 per year in the highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, meaning that dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
