Job Responsibilities
The Counsel-Payments and Regulatory Compliance at the company plays a vital role in supporting digital wallets and disbursement and payout solutions within the Merchant Solutions division. The primary responsibilities include:
- Collaborating directly with business unit representatives to draft and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Advising business partners on legal, contractual, and risk issues affecting their business unit or product set.
- Partnering with product teams to commercialize new products and functionalities.
- Offering consultation and legal advice concerning strategic initiatives, technology projects, and dispute resolution.
- Interacting effectively with corporate specialists on matters related to credit, risk, compliance, finance, audit, tax, regulatory, privacy, and technology that impact the Merchant Solutions division.
- Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation.
Education and Experience Information
To be considered for the position of Counsel-Payments and Regulatory Compliance, candidates must meet the following education and experience requirements:
- Hold a and be licensed to practice law, with the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in the applicable state.
- Be in good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.
- Have experience as a transactional lawyer, specifically in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Possess 5+ years of experience providing regulatory advice on laws and rules related to merchant businesses.
Additional qualifications that are beneficial but not mandatory include:
- Experience interacting with senior management.
- Experience navigating data use and privacy matters.
- Experience in technical contract negotiation.
- Exposure to financial services and technology contracts.
- Knowledge of financial services laws and network requirements (., Reg E, BSA/AML, money transmission, Nacha rules, etc.).
Salary Information
The salary range for the Counsel-Payments and Regulatory Compliance position is between $88, and $158,, applicable to employees in New Jersey, New York, and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
Additionally, for incentive-eligible associates, the successful candidate is eligible for an annual incentive opportunity which may be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards at the company's sole discretion.
