Staff Attorney

Job Title: Staff Attorney - Agricultural Worker Program

Job Responsibilities:
The Staff Attorney at the organization is responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to eligible clients in priority areas as determined by the organization's program guidelines, the ABA Standards for Providers of Civil Legal Services, and the Code of Professional Responsibility. Key responsibilities include:

- Providing legal services to low-income clients and client groups through advice, negotiation, litigation, and administrative advocacy in line with program priorities and case-handling policies.
- Reviewing and supervising the work product of Community Workers and Clerical support staff related to all clients advised or represented.
- Engaging in significant statewide impact activities such as institutional and group litigation or community economic development that benefit the low-income community.
- Developing leadership skills by working with community, client, and other advocacy groups on statewide impact issues.
- Specializing in a substantive area of poverty law and serving as a resource for other staff through participation in at least one organization task force.
- Coordinating advocacy in substantive areas by collaborating with other human services providers, non-profit organizations, and community, client, or advocacy groups.
- Participating in training programs, local office case reviews, staff meetings, and other organization activities as required.
- Providing community education regarding legal rights and preparing related materials for presentations.
- Collaborating with private bar members as necessary in accordance with the organization's Private Bar Involvement.
- Maintaining contemporaneous time records in the organization's case management system.
- Maintaining good working relationships with all office staff members.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:

Required Education and Experience:
- Admission to practice law in the State of California or a willingness to take the next California Bar Exam.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive relations with a diverse population.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience working with low-income families and communities.
- Experience in a non-profit legal services environment.
- Prior legal services experience and additional relevant language ability.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Salary Information:
The compensation for the Staff Attorney position is based on competitive public interest salaries. The salary ranges from $73,000 to $104,000, depending on the number of years since admission to practice law in any . jurisdiction and any relevant law-related work experience prior to being admitted to practice law. The organization offers a generous benefits package, including:

- 100% employer-covered medical, dental, vision, life, and short & long-term disability insurance for employees, and up to 50% coverage for dependents.
- A 401K retirement plan with organization contributions effective immediately.
- Payment of some professional dues, including Bar Fees, and up to $8,000 in law school Loan Reimbursement Assistance Program (LRAP) if qualified.
- A generous paid leave policy, including 15 days of sick leave, 15 holidays each year, and vacation time (15 days for the first year of service and 20 days after one year of service).
- This is a union position under the Legal Service Workers for Rural California (LSWRC).

Additional Information:
