Job Title: Tax Senior
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships and ensure timely reporting of milestone and dependency status.
- Monitor risks and issues to escalate and execute day-to-day management activities.
- Oversee asset-level diligence and analysis on debt investments.
- Prepare and/or review debt taxable income calculations and reports.
- Communicate with clients, their servicers, and/or administrators and lead client resources.
- Calculate and/or review taxable income on debt investments including OID, market discount, premium, gain/loss, tax basis, and other items using proprietary software and tools.
- Leverage proprietary software, third-party data providers, and credit agreements to research asset-level debt origination terms for corporate bond portfolios, mortgage-backed security portfolios, and mortgage loan pools.
- Perform tax research to address tax technical issues related to debt investment transactions and train younger professionals on applicable technical issues.
- Develop requirements for system enhancements and ongoing testing of system calculations, processes, and reporting.
- Support the pursuit of new client opportunities through review of prospective client debt holdings, development of marketing decks, and analysis of industry public filings.
- Work within a team and support and mentor junior staff.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, MIS, or related field required.
- 3+ years of full-time professional experience.
- Demonstrated practical knowledge in fixed income financial products, income tax principles, debt instruments, and/or project management.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in State of Practice/Primary Office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 – 3 days per week.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work and clients served.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, LLM, or other applicable degree.
- Big 4 experience or equivalent.
- Data Analytics experience and solid technology skills.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience serving clients or directly working within the financial services industry.
- Solid experience in financial system design and implementation.
- Background in financial portfolio review, regulatory reporting, and bond administration.
Salary Information:
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York City, the company is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York City and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The reasonable estimate of the current range is $77,070 - $175,500. Candidates may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, with awards depending on various factors including individual and organizational performance.
