Position Summary:

The Tax Manager in the Business Tax Services Insurance group will be responsible for providing federal tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the insurance and financial services industries. They will work closely with clients, manage the tax engagement team, and have access to a group of specialists when needed. The role also involves developing client relationships and staying updated on industry trends and developments.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain and develop strong client relationships in the insurance industry
- Oversee complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects for various entities and their affiliates
- Manage engagement team resources and billing
- Consult with other service lines and peers on tax issues and meet organizational objectives
- Stay updated on trends and developments in the insurance industry
- Deliver professional and timely services to internal and external customers

The Team:

Deloitte's tax consultants provide a full-range of tax services to clients, helping them combine tax data, processes, technology, and people to uncover valuable business insights and smarter solutions. The team works collaboratively and applies specialized knowledge to help clients navigate complex tax and financial reporting issues.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Ability to work within a hybrid work model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- 5+ years of experience in federal taxation
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Experience managing client relationships and engagement teams
- Proficient in tax code and regulations
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SSAP, and related pronouncements
- Technologically inclined with the ability to simplify complex tax issues
- Active accreditation such as CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, CFA, or CFP

Preferred:

- Advanced degree (Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM)
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
- Experience in the insurance industry and proficiency with SSAP 101

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role takes into account various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, and certifications. The actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience, and may also include a discretionary annual incentive program. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,980 to $193,440.
