Job Title: General Liability Claims Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct a team of technical Claims Professionals in handling Commercial General Liability claims with moderate complexity.
- Coordinate the work activities of the team, ensuring performance, development, and coaching of staff to maximize their contributions and drive employee development and operational improvements.
- Drive superior claims results by providing direction, technical guidance, and tracking and reporting on key metrics.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal colleagues, external customers, and brokers to achieve customer satisfaction targets.
- Analyze and resolve quality and customer service problems.
- Review claims files to identify trends and recommend improvements to achieve best practices.
- Monitor file allocations, resources, and other expenditures to manage corporate expenses effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
- Collaborate in product development, customer/broker stewardship, and prospect meetings to provide claims insights that assist business units.
- Motivate and lead a high-performance team by attracting, recruiting, onboarding, and retaining team members.
- Communicate job expectations, monitor and evaluate performance, provide feedback, and facilitate employee development in line with company policies.
- Maintain transparent communication by sharing organization information with the team through meetings, emails, and regular interpersonal communications.
- Create a workplace culture consistent with the company's mission, vision, and values.
- Protect the company's reputation by keeping claims information confidential.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results and participating in projects as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims area
OR
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims area
OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims area
- Customer service experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience collaborating across work groups
- Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
- Travel requirement: 0-20%
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience managing commercial general liability claims
- 8+ years of experience in litigation management
- Strong expertise working at an insurance carrier
- 8+ years of direct people management and performance experience
- Claims operations experience
- Knowledge and skill in claims handling
- Negotiation experience
- Experience in commercial general liability claims
- Analytical skills
Salary Information:
- Compensation for roles is influenced by various factors, including office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
- The proposed salary range for this position is $96, – $130,, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
- Additional rewards may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases.
- Candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range are encouraged to apply, as consideration will be based on their experience, skills, and education.
- The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled.
