Duties:

  • Review and analyze new case files to develop litigation strategies and budgeting plans

  • Draft and manage responses to discovery requests and oversee document production

  • Attend and conduct depositions, hearings, and related legal proceedings with follow-up reporting

  • Engage in settlement negotiations, including preparing and obtaining settlement authority

  • Prepare for trial as required, including coordination with the legal team

  • Maintain ongoing communication with support staff, including paralegals and legal assistants

  • Identify and assign specific legal tasks as needed to support team workflow

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense

  • Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina

  • Ability to manage a full caseload independently

  • Comfortable with fast-paced litigation and capable of adjusting strategies quickly

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and sound legal judgment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • High attention to detail and superior organizational skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and openness to learning case management software

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and court personnel

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple cases efficiently

  • Self-directed with a collaborative mindset
