A regional litigation-focused law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing office in Asheville, North Carolina. This is a strategic opportunity for a litigator with a strong trial background to work on a broad range of complex defense matters in a flexible, hybrid environment. The position supports continued regional growth and offers meaningful trial and arbitration experience across multiple practice areas.

Location:

  • Asheville, North Carolina

Duties:

  • Defend clients in a variety of civil litigation matters

  • Handle all stages of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions, and trial

  • Represent clients in arbitration proceedings

  • Manage caseload independently with support from a collaborative litigation team

  • Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and briefs

  • Advise clients on legal strategy and risk management

  • Participate in mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation defense

  • Demonstrated ability to handle cases from inception through trial and arbitration

  • Strong preference for experience in areas such as:

    • Construction litigation

    • Trucking and transportation defense

    • Products liability

    • Professional liability

    • Premises liability

    • Commercial and motor vehicle litigation

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina (required)

Skills:

  • Strong litigation, trial, and arbitration experience

  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases efficiently

  • Professional demeanor and client-focused approach

  • Collaborative attitude with team leadership potential
