Job Overview:

A well-established, AV-rated civil litigation firm is seeking an experienced General Liability Attorney to join its Miami office. The ideal candidate will have between 5 to 10 years of experience in defending various general liability cases, including those involving trucking, cranes, construction defects, products liability, medical malpractice, and premises liability. The position involves handling depositions, attending court hearings, mediations, trial preparation, and managing the entire litigation process from pleadings through trial. Remote work options are available on a partial basis.

Location:

  • Miami, FL

Duties:

  • Defend clients in general liability cases, including trucking, cranes, construction defects, products liability, medical malpractice, and premises liability.
  • Take and defend depositions of liability and damages experts, parties, and fact witnesses.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and assist in trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Ensure compliance with client reporting guidelines and maintain contemporaneous billing records.
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution, providing expert legal advice to clients.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and prepare for trial.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably in general liability defense.
  • Experience in taking depositions, attending court hearings, and preparing for trials.
  • Strong defense experience in trucking, cranes, construction defect, products liability, medical malpractice, and premises liability matters.
  • Ability to handle a caseload independently, ensuring timely and accurate case management.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in general liability defense.
  • Strong deposition, litigation, and trial preparation skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong client service orientation and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and manage cases effectively.
