Job Title: Law Clerk

Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Law Clerk Program, providing legal internships for law students interested in copyright law and policy.
- Work closely with Office attorneys on copyright-related issues that arise within the Office, before Congress, and in the courts.
- Assist in preparing **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. reports for Congress and participate in the Office’s international work.
- Serve in one of the divisions: Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Office of Policy and International Affairs (PIA), Office of Public Information and Education (PIE), Copyright Claims Board (CCB), or Office of Registration Policy and Practice (RPP) based on candidate preference and Office needs.
- Undertake legal research, writing, and editing tasks as required by the division.

Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from a law school.
- Significant interest or background in copyright law, demonstrated through relevant coursework or experience, is required.
- Candidates must possess excellent research, writing, and editing skills.

Application and Selection Process:
- Applications are accepted at any time, but candidates are encouraged to apply four months before their anticipated start date.
- Application deadlines are January 31 for the summer semester, May 30 for the fall semester, and September 30 for the spring semester.
- Applicants must submit a statement of interest, resume, law school transcript, writing sample, and contact information for three references.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered, and candidates may not hold conflicting legal or research positions simultaneously.
- Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview, which can be conducted in-person, via video, or telephone conference.

Salary Information:
- The Law Clerk positions are unpaid, but law clerks often receive academic credit through their law school.
- In some cases, law clerks may obtain stipend support through public interest grant programs.
