Job Responsibilities:
The Law Student Volunteer position falls within the Executive Office for . Attorneys and the Office of the . Attorneys. This role is part of the . Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, which is unique due to its dual function as both a local and federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. Interns will be involved in various legal processes and will have the opportunity to draft legal documents such as responsive motions, dispositive motions, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs. Additionally, interns will gain exposure to the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the local and federal rules of Appellate Procedure. The internship includes attending dispositions and meetings with agents, and observing court proceedings alongside attorneys. As interns gain experience, their responsibilities will expand, providing them with a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system and valuable mentorship from experienced litigators.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates eligible for this internship must be current second or third-year law students enrolled in an accredited law school pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. Applicants must have strong academic records, superior writing skills, and be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of or ranking in the top half of their class. Interns must be . citizens or owe permanent allegiance to the United States, which includes natives of American Samoa, Swains Island, and certain inhabitants of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Applicants must also meet age and enrollment requirements, including being at least 16 years old and meeting half-time student enrollment requirements.

Salary Information:
These internship positions are unpaid. However, students may have the opportunity to earn academic credit for their work, subject to approval from their school's placement office. No benefits package is authorized for this position.

The internship is part of an unpaid Fall Internship Program that runs from August 21, 2025, to December 12, 2025. The .
