Job Title: Senior Trial Attorney Job Responsibilities: - Represent commercial insureds of a prestigious insurance carrier in General Liability cases, including automotive, trucking, premises, products, and construction liability. - Manage and litigate a diverse and challenging caseload. - Conduct initial investigations, provide legal analysis and advice, and evaluate damages. - Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents, conduct legal research. - Engage in pre-trial discovery and retain medical and forensic experts. - Participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and actively handle hearings and trials. - Manage post-trial activities as necessary. - Practice law in compliance with Federal Courts and the Louisiana State Bar's highest ethical standards. Education and Experience Information: - Juris Doctor degree. - 7 or more years of experience in the Litigation area. - Member of the Bar in good standing in the jurisdiction(s) where practice is located. - Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe. - Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw. - Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment. Preferred Qualifications: - Well-organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills. - Proactive approach to file handling and caseloads. - Ability to work independently and within a team environment. - Efficient work habits with knowledge of billables and diary review, substantive and procedural legal knowledge. - Ability to budget costs and calculate exposure for clients. - Recent first chair jury trial experience. - Recent experience in an insurance defense environment. - Understanding of the staff counsel function and role in the overall business. - PC literate, preferably with experience working in a paperless environment and with a case management system. - Member of neighboring state bar is a plus but not required. - Worker’s Compensation experience is a plus but not required. Salary Information: - Compensation is influenced by factors such as office location, role, skill set, and experience level. - The proposed salary range for this position is $113, - $185,. - Short-term incentive bonus eligibility is set at 15%. - Compensation includes short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. - Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range in compliance with local laws.
