Job Title:
- Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney (REMOTE)
Experience Information:
- Minimum 4 years of litigation experience
- Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Admitted to the bar and licensed to practice law in assigned jurisdictions
Position Overview:
- Investigate and manage Workers' Compensation cases from inception to conclusion
- Work with adjusters and clients to resolve claims efficiently
- Handle a caseload of Workers' Compensation cases
- Attend meetings with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases in a cost-effective manner
- Develop theories and affirmative defenses
- Engage in routine motion practice, discovery, and research
- Handle depositions, hearings, conferences, and trials
- Travel to boards as required
Responsibilities:
- Handle a caseload of Workers' Compensation cases
- Meet with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases in the most cost-effective manner
- Develop theories and affirmative defenses
- Engage in routine motion practice, discovery, and research
- Handle routine depositions, hearings, conferences, and trials
- Travel to boards as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of litigation experience
- Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Admitted to the bar and licensed to practice law in assigned jurisdictions
- Strong advocacy and communication skills
- Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work and maximize productivity
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of email and calendar
- Ability to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, and claims professionals
- Investigative skills to follow up on inquiries and gather evidence
- Legal research skills to locate and interpret laws and regulations
- Courtroom skills and familiarity with rules and regulations
- Dedication to providing high-quality service to clients and claims professionals
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to travel as necessary
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
