About the Role
As OGC Counsel - Conflicts, you will play an integral role in Latham's Office of the General Counsel team. Your responsibilities will include resolving professional ethics conflicts, addressing compliance issues, and reviewing conflicts checks for new business matters and lateral clearances. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Your key responsibilities as OGC Counsel - Conflicts will include:
- Applying knowledge of legal ethics and professional responsibility rules to advise Ethics Committee Members, attorneys, and key stakeholders
- Reviewing outside counsel guidelines and working with partners to prepare responses that align with firm policies
- Advising on engagement letters, conflicts waivers, ethics walls, and firm policies
- Conducting legal research and analysis on professional responsibility issues
- Delivering trainings on conflicts, ethics, and professional responsibility
- Protecting and maintaining confidential information
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
In addition, you should have a JD or equivalent and be admitted to the relevant state bar in active status.
