Job Title: Manager - Outside Counsel Management, Legal Operations
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the outside counsel management team. This includes managing communications with law firms, resolving issues related to fee agreements, rates, and guideline compliance.
- Monitor and report on legal spend and matter management. This involves tracking overall department spend levels, performance against the budget, matter staffing, and more.
- Manage the annual rate review process by overseeing the collection and analysis of rate proposals and providing recommendations on rate approvals.
- Support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process by managing communications with firms and vendors, collecting information, and analyzing proposals.
- Support the use of alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) by providing data-driven analysis to aid in AFA negotiations.
- Partner with the Legal Ops Innovation team, Finance, IT, and vendors to identify and implement improvements in business processes.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with specific project management or business training/certifications preferred.
- The role requires 5+ years of legal operations experience or experience in law firm finance, pricing, or legal project management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary, along with the ability to navigate demands from multiple stakeholders and recommend solutions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
- Strong project management skills are required.
- The candidate must have a proven ability to explore and understand new technologies and their role in outside counsel and vendor management.
Salary Information:
- The compensation range for this position is between $106,500 and $202,500. This range represents the possible base pay compensation that the company believes it will pay for this role at the time of posting, based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, and the company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

- This job is eligible to participate in the company’s short-term and long-term incentive programs.
