Job Title: Tax Manager - Real Estate
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide compliance and consulting services to Real Estate Investment Trusts, Real Estate Private Equity Funds, and real estate joint ventures and operating partnerships.
- Work directly with clients, manage the tax engagement team, and utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure success in the role and career.
- Assist clients with partnership life events such as formations, mergers, initial public offerings, and computations related to sections 704(c) and 743(b), and Schedule K-1 processing.
- Utilize proprietary technologies to streamline clients' tax compliance processes and achieve worldwide compliance.
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various federal tax consulting and compliance engagements in the real estate industry.
- Advise clients on a variety of tax issues, including REIT Qualification, the impact of Tax Reform on passthroughs and other real estate clients, business restructuring, and tax controversy.
- Oversee complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects requiring tax analysis for various entities and their affiliates using advanced technology and data analytics.
- Manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources, and engagement billing.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, including those in the . India office, providing leadership, counseling, career guidance, and guidance on work/life balance.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience.
- Solid understanding of real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership taxation, REIT taxation and qualification, partnership allocations, tax compliance, due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and structuring, and experience with federal tax compliance, federal tax accounting and provisions, tax analysis, and tax research.
- Strong managerial experience with budgets, people, and projects.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, based on work and clients served.
- Active accreditations such as Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA. If not CPA eligible: Licensed Attorney or Enrolled Agent.
- Additional certifications such as Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) are considered.
- Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree such as a Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM, and previous experience in a Big 4 or large CPA firm.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,660 to $213,200. Additionally, there may be eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to rules governing the program, which depends on factors including individual and organizational performance.
