Job Overview:

A law firm based in Dayton, OH, is seeking an experienced and highly entrepreneurial International Trade Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will be collegial, have a substantial book of business, and possess a deep understanding of international trade regulations. The role involves advising both . and foreign clients on a range of trade and regulatory matters, including compliance with . customs requirements and navigating the CFIUS review process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise . and foreign clients on regulatory requirements related to investment in the ., including the CFIUS review process.
  • Guide foreign investors through the . government’s CFIUS review process.
  • Provide counsel on . Customs regulations and compliance related to the import of goods into the .
  • Offer expertise on trade preference programs (., USMCA, CAFTA) and trade remedies (., AD/CVD, Sec. 301).
  • Advise clients on compliance with the . Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Communicate with regulators regarding investigations, protests, voluntary disclosures, and settlements.
  • Handle trade litigation cases as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience in international trade law or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and grow a substantial book of business.
  • Proven track record in advising on CFIUS reviews, . Customs regulations, and trade compliance matters.
  • Experience with trade preference programs, trade remedies, EAR, ITAR, and OFAC sanctions.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting with regulatory bodies.
  • Trade litigation experience is preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in at least one . state.

Certifications:

  • Certification in International Trade Compliance or related certifications is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of . trade regulations and international trade laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
