**Job Title**: Law Clerk 2025 - 2026

**Job Responsibilities**:
As a Law Clerk within the **Members Only**, you will engage in a variety of responsibilities depending on your assigned court.

- **Supreme Court Law Clerks**: Work with justices on complex legal cases, conducting in-depth legal research, preparing written memoranda on novel legal issues, and assisting in the preparation of opinions.
- **Appellate Division Law Clerks**: Conduct research, analyze legal data, prepare legal memoranda, process emergent motion applications, proofread published opinions, and edit judges' opinions.
- **Trial Court Law Clerks**: Gain practical experience by observing judicial proceedings, attending conferences with attorneys and judges, and receiving training in mediation. They also mediate small claims cases and summarize information for judges.
- **Tax Court Law Clerks**: Perform duties similar to those in the Appellate Division and trial courts but do not mediate cases. They engage in reviewing and processing motions, conducting legal research, drafting case management orders, and managing motion calendars.
- **Assignment Judge Clerks**: Learn all aspects of court administration, assist with processing emergent motions, and conduct research and prepare legal memos.
- **Family Division Law Clerks**: Handle complex cases involving children, youth, spouses, and domestic partners, conduct legal research, assist with remote proceedings, and manage emergent applications.
- **Civil Division Law Clerks**: Prepare bench memoranda, perform legal research, draft legal orders, and communicate with various legal professionals.
- **Criminal Division Law Clerks**: Conduct legal research, draft jury instructions and legal opinions, manage motion calendars, and assist with remote proceedings.
- **General Equity (Chancery) Law Clerks**: Conduct legal research, draft orders, and assist in processing emergent temporary restraining order applications.

**Education and Experience Information**:
Candidates must be recent graduates from a law school approved by the American Bar Association, having graduated within the last four years. Excellent writing and analytical skills are essential. It is beneficial to have completed a course in mediation, as trial court law clerks who will serve as mediators must complete a Judiciary sponsored 12-hour mediation training or its equivalent.

**Salary Information**:
The salary for the 2024-2025 Court Term is specified as follows, with the salaries for the 2025-2026 term to be determined based on funding availability:
- Supreme Court: $76,400
- Supreme Court Appellate Division: $69,750
- Superior Court Assignment Judge: $63,950
- Superior Court Chancery Division (General Equity): $63,950
- Superior Court Law Division (Civil and Criminal): $58,900
- Superior Court Chancery Division (Family): $58,900
- Tax Court: $58,900

- The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule with up to four days per month of remote work.
