Job Title: Law Graduate, Family Defense (Fall 2025)

Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as part of interdisciplinary legal teams at the organization, which includes attorneys, social work staff, paralegals, and parent advocates, to deliver high-quality legal defense.
- Focus on objectives such as preventing children from entering foster care, reducing the duration of foster care stays, enhancing quality visiting arrangements, and ensuring families receive services tailored to expedite safe and lasting reunification.
- Represent parents in Family Court who are respondents in Article 10 and related supplemental proceedings, including Termination of Parental Rights proceedings.
- Pursue interim appeals on behalf of the organization's clients.
- Maintain up-to-date case data, client legal notes, and files.
- Participate in the organization's policy initiatives.
- Collaborate with the organization's Home for Good teams.
- Supervise law school interns where appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:
- Law school graduates or current 3Ls planning to take the bar exam in July 2025.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
- A commitment to interdisciplinary representation of parents.
- Prior experience in public benefits, housing, criminal defense, or immigration is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages and experience with public benefits, education, housing, or immigration is desirable.

Salary Information:
- Starting salary: $84,900 per year.
- The organization offers a generous compensation package, including a competitive base salary, health, 403(b), and vacation benefits.
- Salary, benefits, and employment policies are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the organization and the organization Union, part of ALAA (Association of Legal Aid Attorneys) UAW 2325.
