A law firm seeks a Senior Attorney specializing in Family Law Litigation in Rockville, Maryland. The successful candidate will manage a full caseload of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and property division, from start to finish. This role requires strategic planning, legal drafting, court representation, and regular client communication.

Duties

  • Provide experienced legal counsel and advocacy in all areas of family law.
  • Manage every stage of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, negotiations, hearings, and trials.
  • Deliver persuasive arguments in court and settlement discussions.
  • Lead negotiations and mediations to reach fair resolutions.
  • Create and execute tailored legal strategies for clients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Meet an annual billable requirement of 1,560 hours.
  • Oversee cases in accordance with firm policies.
  • Stay current on legal developments in family law.
  • Take full ownership of case development and legal document preparation.

Requirements

  • Valid license to practice law in Maryland, preferably in DC and/or Virginia.
  • 3-5 years of experience handling family law cases in Maryland and/or DC.
  • Proven track record in litigating and negotiating with successful courtroom experience.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal professionals and support staff.
  • Excellent skills in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
  • Proficient with technology to enhance client accessibility and team collaboration.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Approach every case with empathy and compassion.
  • Fluency in Spanish is an added advantage.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland.
