Job Title: Head of Construction Defect Claims

Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a large team handling all aspects of construction defect claims, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of liability claims of the highest complexity and/or severity.
- Develop and enhance the talent within the team by creating opportunities for growth and skill strengthening for direct reports.
- Monitor team performance, identify root cause of any problematic trends, and escalate issues or recommend solutions to operational leadership.
- Advocate for a culture focused on process efficiencies to continuously improve work completion.
- Foster a highly effective and engaged employee culture by selecting top talent, delivering continuous coaching, recognizing employees, and holding others accountable for team development.
- Build an understanding of the customer experience to meet and exceed stakeholders’ expectations in claims customer service.
- Identify changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high-quality outcomes and develop training solutions to embed and sustain those practices.
- Work with IT counterparts in the design, build, and test of technological changes to support claim practices and workflows.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure profitable growth.
- Develop coverage acumen and ensure proactive management of litigation by the team.

Education and Experience Information:
- Significant experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, with material experience in Construction Defect claim management.
- Multi-jurisdictional expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Advanced degree, such as Juris Doctor (.), preferred.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of claims teams located in multiple locations.
- Experience in directly managing and guiding a team of Managers responsible for overseeing claims handling.
- Regular participation in claims roundtable discussions focusing on claims issues surrounding coverage, liability, and assessment of damages.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present to senior leadership.
- Leadership skills including planning, organizing, delegating, and developing direct reports.
- Ability to persuade and influence people through superior written and oral communications.
- Possess emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Embrace changes and invite feedback related to performance, dealing constructively with criticism.
