Experience Information:
Bachelor's degree and related work experience within a law firm or professional services is required for this position. Strong analytical and documentation skills on corporate or financial legal matters, as well as a solid understanding of basic legal theories, are also necessary. Native level Japanese and business level English for both written and spoken communication are required. Administrative Scrivener or Judicial Scrivener qualification is a plus.
Job Summary:
White & Case, an elite global law firm, is seeking a Legal Assistant (Debt Finance) to work in their Tokyo office. This position will involve working in a fast-paced environment under the supervision of attorneys and providing legal services to clients. The legal assistant will be responsible for drafting and proofreading legal documents, organizing and scanning legal documents, and assisting with legal research. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and proofread legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
- Organize, scan, and index legal documents.
- Submit legal documents to court or public institutions.
- Review new matters daily and prepare short summaries.
- Develop expert-level knowledge of matter flow and track matter flow.
- Maintain up-to-date case files.
- Create and maintain databases, charts, graphs, and tables for data analysis.
- Prepare daily time entries for services performed.
- Assist with legal research as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required (law degree or related).
- Related work experience within a law firm or professional services is required.
