Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Managing Director, Partnerships is tasked with advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, specifically focusing on partnership taxation. Key responsibilities include:

- Providing expertise on partnership-specific tax items such as section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations.
- Assisting in the preparation of partnership-specific computations by leveraging knowledge and experience in partnership taxation.
- Actively participating in marketing and business development initiatives for the group.
- Driving process improvement and team-building initiatives within the department.
- Maintaining and nurturing client relationships, acting as a source of guidance for other team members.

Job Duties:

Tax Specialization:
- Develops an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues related to partnership taxation.
- Organizes and participates in external CPE training sessions at least once a year.
- Trains and mentors associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Oversees and reviews partnership capital account maintenance and relevant computational services.

Research:
- Identifies the need for research and clearly frames issues for analysis.
- Guides the engagement team in researching complex issues and provides research methodology.
- Trains associates, senior associates, and managers on research skills.

Tax Consulting:
- Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, focusing on reducing current and future taxes.
- Applies a combination of tax knowledge and business/industry knowledge to recommend solutions.
- Manages client relationships and expectations effectively.

Strategy Development:
- Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve client positions, including reducing taxes or expenses.
- Researches and implements tax strategies, experimenting with promising new strategies.
- Leads marketing campaigns when applicable.
- Presents complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers on all projects.
- Reviews work prepared by team members and provides feedback.
- Trains team members on current software tools.
- Acts as a career advisor and provides verbal and written performance feedback.
- Manages workload and scheduling for team members.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for majors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

Experience:
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in public or private accounting or consulting/professional services is required.
- Specialized partnership experience is required.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Experience with private equity at both fund and portfolio company levels is preferred.
- Experience with Up-C tax receivable agreements is preferred.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.

Software:
- Experience with tax research tools like CCH Wolters Kluwer, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, and BNA is preferred.
- Familiarity with systems such as Oracle, Thomson Reuters, ONESOURCE, Longview, Corptax, or GoSystems is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.

Salary Information:

Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined after consideration of various factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. National and specific ranges such as Maryland and NYC/Long Island/Westchester are $157,500 - $420,000.
