Job Title: Underwriting Consultant - Lawyer Program Manager

Job Responsibilities:
The Underwriting Consultant - Lawyer Program Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for managing complex flow referral underwriting from various Managing General Underwriting partners. This position supports the company's countrywide Program Lawyers book of business. Under the direction of Program Managers, this role operates within broad limits of authority on assignments that require a high degree of technical underwriting acumen. Key responsibilities include:

- Performing underwriting risk assessments through diagnostic and systematic analysis, with direct responsibility for high-volume flow referral underwriting.
- Determining appropriate pricing for complex risks within the assigned book of business based on financial and competitive analysis, ensuring compliance with minimal oversight.
- Making recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy.
- Analyzing the quality, quantity, and profitability of highly complex risks underwritten and preparing reports for management.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with large producers within assigned territories to achieve positive and profitable outcomes on complex, high-risk business.
- Staying current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity, and trends, and possibly participating in industry trade groups.
- Utilizing advanced functionality in relevant company systems for daily activities.
- Handling special underwriting projects, reports, and presentations.

The role may also include additional duties as assigned and reports to a Director or above.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Candidates for this position should possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

1. Advanced technical expertise in underwriting, with a high level of knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
2. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external business partners.
3. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
4. Ability to handle ambiguous situations and issues.
5. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
7. Demonstrated leadership skills.

Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate should have:

1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations such as ., RPLU, or CPCU are preferred.
2. Typically, a minimum of eight years’ experience in lawyers professional liability insurance, underwriting, legal, or Errors & Omissions (E&O).

Salary Information:
In certain jurisdictions, the company is legally required to provide a reasonable estimate of compensation for this role. In areas such as District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
