The Orrick 2L Summer Associate position is a highly competitive and prestigious opportunity for a rising 2L student to gain valuable experience at one of the top law firms in the United States. With a strong focus on entrepreneurialism, determination, and engagement, Orrick is looking for applicants with strong academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in one of their six Business Units: litigation, corporate, regulatory (SAGE), energy & infrastructure, intellectual property, and finance. The 2L Summer Associate will have the opportunity to work as a full member of Orrick’s 2026 Summer Associate Program, with the potential to receive a first-year associate position at the conclusion of their summer, contingent upon work performance and continued academic excellence during their 3L year.
Application Process
• Firm looking for entrepreneurial, determined and engaged students
• Strong academic credentials and demonstrated interest in one of Orrick’s six Business Units
• Applicants must provide a resume, transcript, and cover letter articulating interest in position and firm
• Application process closes August 31, 2025, or until class is filled
• Virtual interviews begin in April and offers will be extended on a rolling basis
Responsibilities
• Meaningful and rewarding summer experience
• Substantive work across Orrick’s varied practices and offices
• Opportunities to gain a better understanding of the practice of law
• Participation in national and local trainings on legal writing and public speaking
• Unique programming and events to get to know fellow Summer Associates and Orrick attorneys
Qualifications
• Rising 2Ls (class of 2027) pursuing a JD at an ABA-accredited law school
• Part-time students and JD/MBA students also eligible if not graduating in 2027
Salary Information
• Expected gross salary of $4,
• Comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package
