Job Title:
Director, Network Compliance (Advisory)

Job Responsibilities:
The Director, Network Compliance (Advisory) plays a crucial role in managing risk within the second line of defense for the network and merchant businesses at the company. The primary goal is to ensure that corporate initiatives and business processes are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This position operates within the Compliance Management Program framework and involves leading and delivering quality results, providing compliance advice as a subject matter expert, and promoting a culture of compliance. Key responsibilities include:

- Advising business leaders on regulatory requirements.
- Providing guidance on business policies, standards, and procedures.
- Developing and leading department training programs.
- Offering compliance advice to senior leaders on complex business projects, products, and initiatives.
- Providing guidance on controls over regulatory requirements and monitoring those controls.
- Reviewing business controls and advising on identified risks.
- Maintaining subject matter expertise in the payments industry and relevant laws and regulations.
- Challenging and guiding compliance risks for network and merchant businesses through engagements.
- Identifying trends in business data and advising on network payments compliance risks, including emerging external risks.
- Partnering with compliance testing teams to plan and develop compliance tests for business activities, and reviewing test outcomes.
- Developing strong relationships with Business Risk, Legal, and Audit peers to support compliance risk mitigation.
- Supporting regulatory exam and engagement preparation and delivery.
- Evaluating issues and events for compliance impacts.
- Managing, developing, and coaching a Compliance Advisory Team.
- Advising on application of compliance requirements for business expansions and new products.
- Advising on controls, monitoring, remediation actions, and compliance impacts due to changes in processes, procedures, or regulations.
- Assisting in monitoring, reporting, and training on potential risk areas.
- Conducting targeted validations and reviews on controls for applicable regulations.
- Capturing, maintaining, and analyzing compliance data for consistency and risk management.
- Participating in reporting activities to senior leadership in business and Risk Management.

Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in legal, compliance, or risk management, OR at least 7 years of regulatory experience in consumer financial services or payments industry.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree, such as a Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree.
- Over 5 years of experience in people management.

Salary Information:
The full-time annual salary for the Director, Network Compliance (Advisory) role varies by location:
- Chicago, IL: $181,800 - $207,500
- McLean, VA: $200,100 - $228,400
- New York, NY: $218,300 - $249,100
- Richmond, VA: $181,800 - $207,500

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. The actual annualized salary offered will be reflected in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Incentives may be discretionary or nondiscretionary depending on the plan.
