A respected law firm based in Boston, MA, is partnering with a legal recruiting agency to identify a highly qualified Patent Agent with significant experience supporting life sciences intellectual property matters. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in managing patent prosecution tasks, advising on IP strategies, and collaborating on complex innovation portfolios, particularly in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device areas.
Review and assess technical disclosures for patent eligibility across scientific disciplines
Draft and file patent applications with the . Patent and Trademark Office
Manage domestic prosecution and liaise with international representatives for global filings
Support strategic portfolio development and due diligence evaluations
Conduct technical and legal research relevant to intellectual property frameworks
Participate in client-facing discussions to provide insight on IP strategies
Serve as a key communicator between internal departments and outside legal advisors
At least 4 years of hands-on experience in patent prosecution within a law firm or corporate environment
Demonstrated focus on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical device innovations
In-depth understanding of . patent processes and international coordination procedures
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary legal and scientific teams
Familiarity with industry trends and scientific advancements
. in a life sciences-related discipline (., molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, etc.)
Registration to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office, or eligibility to sit for the exam shortly
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Proficiency in managing complex technical information
Experience in patent prosecution involving mechanical or electrical innovations is beneficial
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively on legal matters
