Job Title: Tax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services - Corporate Focus

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Senior Manager in Core Tax Services is tasked with advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives. This involves evaluating and selecting alternative actions to mitigate tax burdens and reduce compliance costs while ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The role serves as the primary client contact for complex tax issues, applying tax knowledge to identify potential issues and communicate risks and policy changes. Responsibilities include making top-level decisions about tax filing, preparation, and resolving federal and state agency inquiries. The Senior Manager is also a key member of the office or regional leadership team, participating in marketing, networking, and business development within their area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships.

Key duties include:

Tax Compliance:
- Ensuring clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Conducting top-level review of tax returns and resolving tax issues with clients, involving specialists where necessary.
- Planning for early recognition of material tax and compliance issues and consulting with clients or partners as needed.

Research:
- Identifying when research is needed, framing issues for research, and reporting analysis.
- Identifying complex issues for research by the engagement team and providing research methodology.
- Training managers and staff on research skills and involving firm specialists as appropriate.

ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals:
- Applying firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Helping others learn and apply ASC 740 and firm policies.
- Reviewing tax provisions and explaining components of income tax provisions and uncertain tax positions to clients.

Tax Consulting:
- Developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes.
- Applying tax and business knowledge to recommend solutions and manage risk.
- Managing inquiries from federal and state agencies and providing assistance with protests at appeals level.

Tax Specialization:
- Developing an understanding of technical and practical issues regarding various areas of taxation.
- Organizing and conducting external CPE training sessions in specialization areas.
- Training and mentoring managers, seniors, and associates in specialization areas.

Strategy Development:
- Introducing and developing new ideas to improve client, firm, or personnel positions.
- Researching and implementing tax strategies and making suggestions for improvement.
- Leading marketing campaigns and presenting complex strategies to clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervising associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates and providing feedback.
- Training associates and seniors on software tools and acting as a Career Advisor.
- Scheduling and managing workload and providing verbal and written performance feedback.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

Experience:
- Eight or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.

Software:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
