Job Title: Senior Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner and legal advisor on a broad range of legal matters related to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, operations, and procurement.
- Draft, negotiate, implement, and enforce commercial agreements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business needs and stay informed of relevant laws and industry standards affecting the utility-scale solar and battery storage industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and manage legal risks associated with construction projects, business operations, stakeholder engagement, and dispute resolution.
- Represent the company in negotiations and disputes related to EPC projects.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to laws and industry best practices.
- Manage external counsel and legal budgets effectively.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal compliance and risk management matters.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to a bar in good standing.
- Knowledge of project implementation and commercial issues such as warranty, liens, force majeure, and scope/schedule changes.
- Strong problem-solving, relationship-building, and leadership communication skills.
- Experience analyzing complex legal issues, providing practical advice, and developing creative solutions.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing external counsel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of legal practice.
- Legal experience in engineering, procurement, and construction in energy spaces, including representing contractors/subcontractors.
- Experience practicing law, with experience drafting and negotiating contracts relating to construction projects.
- Experience with laws and regulations applicable to construction (., lien laws) and procurement (tariffs and duties).
- Previous in-house experience.
Salary Information:
- The anticipated salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $250,000 per year.
- The role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
- Compensation is based on available market data and may vary considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
