Job Title: Tax Manager - Real Estate
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Manager within the Investment Management – Real Estate Tax group at the company, you will be responsible for providing federal tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the Real Estate industry sector. Your duties will include:
- Assisting clients with partnership life events such as formations, mergers, and initial public offerings.
- Conducting inside and outside basis computations, as well as section 704(c) and section 743(b) computations, and handling Schedule K-1 processing.
- Utilizing proprietary technologies to help clients streamline their tax compliance processes and achieve global compliance.
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships while managing federal tax consulting and compliance engagements in the real estate industry.
- Advising clients on various tax issues, including Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) qualification, the impact of Tax Reform on passthroughs and other real estate clients, business restructuring, and tax controversy.
- Overseeing complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects that require tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates using advanced technology and data analytics.
- Managing engagement workflow, team resources, and billing processes.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff, including those in the . India office, providing leadership, counseling, career guidance, and work/life fit guidance.
Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- A minimum of 5 years of corporate tax experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A solid understanding of real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership taxation, REIT taxation and qualification, partnership allocations, tax compliance, due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and structuring, as well as experience with federal tax compliance, federal tax accounting and provisions, tax analysis, and tax research.
- Strong managerial experience with budgets, people, and projects.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on work and client needs.
- One of the following active accreditations:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- Licensed Attorney.
- Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications such as Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Preferred:
- An advanced degree such as a Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 or large CPA firm.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is $93,660 to $213,200. Compensation decisions are based on the facts and circumstances of each case, and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, depending on individual and organizational performance.
