Job Title: Tax Manager, Business Tax Services - ASC740
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Manager in the Business Tax Services group, the primary responsibilities involve providing federal tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base across various industries. Key duties include:
- Oversight and management of effective tax rate (ETR), deferred tax, and uncertain tax position (UTP) computations and analyses.
- Overseeing the preparation and reconciliation of current and deferred tax account balances, including realization conclusions and valuation allowance considerations, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Collaborating with company and external auditors, coordinating and supporting the annual audit process regarding tax provisions.
- Researching, analyzing, and documenting tax implications and technical positions related to complex transactions and legislative changes.
- Providing guidance on tax-related accounting matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings.
- Monitoring and implementing new tax laws, accounting standards, and regulations impacting a company's tax reporting.
- Optimizing tax reporting processes by implementing automation solutions, using provision-specific software, and streamlining workflows.
- Managing tax forecasting and planning efforts to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of tax-related financial disclosures and reporting for SEC filings, if applicable.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams, including company and external auditors, to provide tax expertise for business transactions.
- Developing, mentoring, and managing a team of tax professionals, ensuring effective training and performance.
Education and Experience Information:
Required qualifications for the position include:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- Over 5 years of experience leading and managing the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications such as Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment.
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions.
- Solid understanding of accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC740.
- Previous experience with Big 4 or large CPA firm.
- Strong management experience.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role takes into account various factors including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $93,660 to $187,070. Additionally, candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, contingent on individual and organizational performance.
