Job Title: Sr. Estate Settlement Officer
Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Estate Settlement Officer is responsible for the comprehensive administration and distribution of estate/trust assets within an administrative trust or probate. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing larger and more complex probate estates and deceased grantor trusts.
- Facilitating family meetings and ensuring effective communication to manage expectations and processes.
- Identifying, collecting, and valuing assets of the estate or trust.
- Paying claims and expenses related to the estate or trust.
- Coordinating the preparation of estate and other required tax returns.
- Overseeing the accurate and efficient distribution of assets to beneficiaries.
- Collaborating with internal partners, such as Trust Team and Private Bankers, to increase estate revenue and develop business through referrals.
- Engaging in business development and sales activities to provide estate settlement expertise.
- Serving as the primary resource for communication to assigned accounts, ensuring timely and efficient administration.
- Building and maintaining relationships with external business partners, including attorneys and CPAs, to promote awareness of Estate Settlement Services.
- Overseeing a book of business and potentially managing other estate administration support staff.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of education.
- At least 6 years of experience in trust administration.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience working in a financial or legal services organization.
Additional Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of experience in personal trust, estate settlement, or investment-related roles.
- Completion of a Trust Certificate and/or Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation is preferred.
- Advanced degree or certifications, such as JD, LLM, or other legal designations, are preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of estate settlement, gifting, income, estate and generation-skipping taxation, and trusts (both revocable and irrevocable).
- Familiarity with banking products, financial planning, and insurance services.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Salary Information:
Compensation for the Sr. Estate Settlement Officer position starts with a base salary ranging from $122,535 to $208,715 per year. The exact compensation may vary depending on the candidate's skills, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
