Salary: $72,000 - $122,163, commensurate with years of experience
Years of Experience: N/A (recent law school graduates may be hired as paralegals with the opportunity for promotion to trial attorney upon admission to the Massachusetts bar)

Agency Overview:
- Responsible for providing an attorney to those who cannot afford to retain one
- Provides representation in various legal matters, including criminal, delinquency, family regulation, and mental health cases

Position Overview:
- Provides legal representation to indigent clients in District and Superior Courts
- Expected to handle a variety of cases, including misdemeanors, felonies, and serious sexual offenses
- New Trial Attorneys receive comprehensive training before starting their work
- Positions will be filled as budgets allow, with expected start date in September 2025
- Concentrating recruitment and hiring in central, western, and southeastern Massachusetts
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to practice law in Massachusetts
- Access to an automobile and personal computer with internet access
- Demonstrated commitment to zealous advocacy and ability to work independently and collaboratively
Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with clients
- Represent clients in arraignments and bail hearings
- Conduct legal research and writing
- Investigate cases, including visiting crime scenes and interviewing witnesses
- Prepare and argue pretrial motions and legal memoranda
- Represent clients in jury and bench trials
- Collaborate with private attorneys on cases assigned through the Private Counsel Division
- Other duties as assigned
