Job Title: Assistant Attorney General

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the Gaming Enforcement Division within the Criminal Bureau is primarily responsible for investigating and prosecuting criminal conduct related to expanded gaming in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This includes handling violations of several General Laws such as . c. 23K, . c. 23N, . c. 267A, and . c. 271, and addressing illegal activities like gaming-related financial crime, cheating, public order offenses, and other criminal acts occurring at the casino. The AAG will operate primarily from the MGM Casino and will appear daily in Springfield District Court.

Key duties include managing a large District Court caseload, leading and coordinating investigations and prosecutions in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police, Springfield Police, and other law enforcement partners. The role demands building successful partnerships with various law enforcement agencies, screening potential cases, fostering relationships with industry stakeholders, participating in training programs, and working cohesively with other members of the Attorney General’s Office and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office. All employees in this division must adhere to the Enhanced Code of Ethics as per . c. 12, § 11M(c).

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be law school graduates and active members of the Massachusetts Bar with a minimum of two years of litigation and trial experience as an attorney. The position requires individuals who are eager to learn, willing to face challenges, and comfortable with court appearances. The candidate should be a team player with effective writing and communication skills, self-motivated, disciplined, ethical, and capable of exercising sound judgment in decision-making. The role also requires demonstrating a connection to the communities served and supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment. Although the position is based in Springfield, the candidate must be willing to travel as needed across the Commonwealth for investigations and litigation. A valid Massachusetts driver's license is necessary.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Assistant Attorney General position ranges from $84,134 to $125,572, depending on the candidate's JD year and experience.
