Job Responsibilities:
Interns at the **Members Only** are responsible for supporting the legal functions of the organization. The primary duties include:
- Assisting in legal research and drafting legal documents.
- Supporting attorneys in preparing for court cases and hearings.
- Participating in the analysis of legal issues pertaining to state and public interests.
- Helping to ensure that state government actions comply with legal standards.
- Engaging in tasks that protect public resources and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
- Working to safeguard the rights of vulnerable citizens by providing legal support to the attorneys.
- Collaborating with various sections within the OAG, such as Collections/Child Support.
Education and Experience Information:
The internship is open to:
- Graduate and law students who are pursuing advanced degrees in legal studies.
- Paralegal students who are in the process of obtaining paralegal certification.
- Undergraduate students with a strong interest in the legal field.
- Highly motivated high-school students who demonstrate a keen interest in law.
Applicants should possess:
- Strong research and writing skills to effectively contribute to legal document drafting and research tasks.
- Proficiency in computer usage to assist in the preparation and organization of legal materials.
- Clear communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with attorneys and other interns.
Salary Information:
The internship positions are unpaid and are considered volunteer opportunities. However, accepted applicants may have the option to arrange externships with their educational institutions to receive course credit for their work at the Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, positions are available for work-study students who may receive stipends from their schools.
