Job Title: Specialty Tax Services Intern, Customs & International Trade - Summer 2026
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Intern, Customs & International Trade, will be part of the company's Specialized Tax Services – International department. The intern will utilize basic research skills and apply their educational background to identify potential trade issues and opportunities. The role requires taking direction from more experienced team members to assist in providing advice to clients across various industries on import and export matters. Key duties include:
- Researching and assisting in writing and reviewing international trade advice related to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, US-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement, entry processes, and customs valuation.
- Researching . and international import and export trade matters.
- Formulating ideas and assisting in delivering possible trade savings opportunities.
- Collaborating with other specialists and client service teams on client and proposal work.
- Establishing relationships with the company's customs experts in jurisdictions throughout the company's international network.
- Learning to identify opportunities for and assisting in drafting tax alerts in international customs and global trade tax matters.
- Assisting client service team personnel in managing client expectations.
- Performing other duties as required.
Education and Experience Information:
- The candidate must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Accounting.
- Pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Taxation is preferred.
- Enrollment in a Juris Doctorate, Master of Laws (LLM), or MBA program is preferred.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- Not applicable.
Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
- Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, and Lexis Nexis is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and basic legal and tax research skills, including building models and analyzing financial and numerical data.
- Solid organizational skills, with a focus on meeting project deadlines and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task successfully while working independently or in a group environment.
- Capability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to effectively manage a team of tax professionals and delegate work assignments as needed.
- Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel.
- Ability to interact successfully with professionals at all levels.
- Basic understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities in one or more areas of taxation and law.
