A highly regarded law firm is seeking an Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Associate to join its practice in Dallas. The ideal candidate will bring 2–4 years of relevant experience, ideally from a large firm environment, and demonstrate expertise in qualified plans, executive compensation agreements, equity arrangements, and benefits-related issues in complex transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, IPOs, and spin-offs. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and nationally respected tax and benefits practice.

Duties

  • Advise clients on a range of executive compensation and employee benefits matters

  • Draft and review executive employment agreements, severance arrangements, and equity plans

  • Address benefit-related issues arising in mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, carve-outs, and other transactions

  • Provide support for compliance with ERISA and Internal Revenue Code provisions

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across practice areas

  • Analyze qualified retirement plans and welfare benefit plans

  • Stay current with regulatory developments and emerging trends in executive compensation

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in executive compensation and employee benefits

  • Previous work in a large law firm setting preferred

  • Experience with benefits issues in transactional contexts such as M&A and IPOs

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex, time-sensitive matters

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across offices and practice areas

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic background

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (New York or Texas) or eligibility to obtain such license

Skills

  • Knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related employment and tax laws

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting abilities

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and ethical practice
