Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Education and Employment legal practice. This hybrid role is designed for a professional with extensive experience advising employers on workplace issues and handling related disputes. The position offers an opportunity to lead matters for a diverse client base including both public and private sector entities. Duties:

  • Represent public and private employers in employment-related matters

  • Advise educational institutions and other organizations on compliance with workplace regulations

  • Handle litigation involving employment disputes, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and wage-and-hour claims

  • Support clients in labor negotiations, grievance arbitration, and union-related issues (if applicable)

  • Supervise or collaborate with team members on complex legal projects

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive legal counsel

  • Engage in community and professional activities to support client outreach and development

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience practicing employment and/or labor law

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage and grow a book of business

  • Proven client service mindset and ability to work independently and within teams

  • Familiarity with the public sector and private employer representation is strongly preferred

  • Experience in traditional labor law (., collective bargaining, union representation) is advantageous

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

  • Membership in the Oregon State Bar is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal advocacy skills

  • Proficiency in managing litigation from intake through resolution

  • Practical problem-solving approach with strategic legal thinking

  • Comfort with hybrid/remote work environments and digital case management tools

  • Client-first mindset and adaptability in handling diverse workplace legal issues
