LAW STUDENT INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER’S OFFICE – Southern District of Florida
- Opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience in federal criminal defense cases
- Work directly with Assistant Federal Public Defenders and gain valuable mentorship and supervision
- Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, assist with trial preparation and case investigation
- Observe attorneys in court proceedings and attend hearings, trials, and oral arguments
- Flexible hours during the school year (minimum of 12 hours per week) and full-time during the summer (40 hours per week)
- Possibility to receive school credit for the internship
- Applications accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled
- Priority dates for Spring semester (November 15th), Fall semester (July 15th), and summer (March 15th)

FEDERAL PUBLIC DEFENDER’S OFFICE FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF FLORIDA
- Represents indigent defendants in federal criminal cases
- Managed by the Federal Public Defender, appointed by the Eleventh Circuit
- Staffed with Assistant Federal Public Defenders, investigators, and support personnel
- Handles all aspects of criminal defense in the federal court system, including felony indictments, appeals, and habeas corpus petitions
- Limited number of placements for non-salaried legal interns
