Job Overview:
A national civil litigation law firm is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Associate Attorney to join its General Liability group. The position is based out of the Parsippany, New Jersey office, with remote work flexibility. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of insurance defense litigation experience and be admitted to practice in New Jersey. This role offers exposure to a diverse caseload, opportunities for mentorship, and a collaborative work environment. The attorney will engage in all aspects of case management, from discovery through trial, with substantial client interaction and courtroom exposure.

Location:

  • Parsippany, New Jersey

Duties:

  • Review case files and analyze legal claims and defenses

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and memoranda

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations

  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests

  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses

  • Assist in all aspects of trial preparation and attend trials as needed

  • Track and meet annual billable hour requirements (1950 hours)

  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

  • Participate in case strategy discussions and collaborate with senior attorneys

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense

  • Demonstrated experience handling cases from inception through resolution

  • Proficient in conducting and defending depositions, including expert and 30(b)(6) witnesses

  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

  • Comfortable handling court appearances, motion arguments, and negotiations

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey

Skills:

  • Excellent legal analysis, writing, and communication abilities

  • Strong organizational and case management skills

  • High attention to detail and responsiveness

  • Ability to manage deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced litigation environment
