Job Title: Senior Associate, State and Local Tax
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Associate within the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice at the company, the candidate will be responsible for a range of tax-related duties. These include assisting with state and local tax planning and compliance projects, particularly focusing on technical issues like apportionment methodologies and tax base modifications. The role involves delivering advisory services on tax matters such as refund reviews, nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, and tax minimization studies for income/franchise tax purposes. The candidate will independently research multi-state income/franchise tax issues and developments and be regularly exposed to various taxes, including sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and property taxes. Additionally, the candidate will attend client calls, create concise and complete deliverables, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, manage engagement workflows, and mentor Associates. Building client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services is also part of the role. The candidate will assist with business development and build internal relationships with other members of the Tax team and the larger company.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with State and Local Tax. A CPA or Licensed Attorney designation is preferred, although candidates who are in the process of pursuing these qualifications will be considered. The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI, is necessary. The candidate should be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively and demonstrate a high motivation to learn and grow. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are also important for this role.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually. The final salary offer will depend on various factors, including education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition to the salary, the company offers a discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance. Employees working 30 or more hours per week are entitled to participate in the company's fringe benefits, which include healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages, as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan with an annual discretionary contribution.
