**Job Title: Law Clerk 2025 - 2026**
**Job Responsibilities:**
Law clerks in the **Members Only** play a crucial role in supporting the judicial process across various courts, including the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Superior Court, and Tax Court. Depending on the specific court assignment, the responsibilities vary:
- **Supreme Court Law Clerks**: Work with justices on complex legal cases, perform legal research, prepare written memoranda, and assist in opinion preparation.
- **Appellate Division Law Clerks**: Conduct research, analyze legal data, prepare legal memoranda, process emergent motion applications, and proofread published opinions.
- **Trial Court Law Clerks**: Gain practical experience by observing judicial proceedings, attending conferences, receiving mediation training, mediating small claims, and summarizing information for judges.
- **Assignment Judge Clerks**: Learn court administration, assist with emergent motions, and manage the judge's docket.
- **Tax Court Law Clerks**: Similar duties to Appellate Division and trial court clerks, focus on tax-related cases without mediation responsibilities.
- **Family Division Law Clerks**: Handle cases involving family disputes, conduct legal research, assist in remote proceedings, and draft legal opinions and orders.
- **Civil Division Law Clerks**: Prepare bench memoranda, conduct legal research, draft legal orders, manage motion calendars, and communicate with various stakeholders.
- **Criminal Division Law Clerks**: Conduct legal research, assist in drafting jury instructions and legal opinions, manage motion calendars, and perform case management functions.

**Education and Experience Information:**
To qualify for a law clerk position, candidates must:
- Be graduates from a law school approved by the American Bar Association.
- Ideally, have graduated within the last four years.
- Possess excellent writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills.
- Have completed a course in mediation, which is advantageous but not mandatory.
Selected candidates are required to provide an official, final law school transcript at the time of hire.

The salary for law clerks varies based on the specific court and assignment:
- Supreme Court: $76,400
- Supreme Court Appellate Division: $69,750
- Superior Court Assignment Judge: $63,950
- Superior Court Chancery Division (General Equity): $63,950
- Superior Court Law Division (Civil and Criminal): $58,900
- Superior Court Chancery Division (Family): $58,900
- Tax Court: $58,900
These salaries are for the 2024-2025 court term, and the salaries for the 2025-2026 term are to be determined based on funding availability.
