Location

  • Montvale, NJ

Duties

  • Represent private and institutional clients before planning boards, zoning boards, and governmental agencies

  • Handle all aspects of land use and development matters, including preparation and submission of applications

  • Advise clients on local and state regulatory compliance, zoning codes, and land development procedures

  • Draft legal documents and attend public hearings on behalf of clients

  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and architects to support client applications

  • Support litigation related to zoning appeals, development approvals, and related disputes

  • Provide legal counsel on affordable housing (Mount Laurel) issues, where applicable

Requirements

  • 5–15 years of experience practicing land use law

  • Demonstrated experience representing applicants before planning/zoning boards

  • Familiarity with local and regional development regulations in New Jersey

  • Affordable housing and Mount Laurel experience (preferred)

  • Strong organizational and case management capabilities

  • Excellent public presentation and advocacy skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar in good standing (required)

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple matters

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals on development projects

  • Proficient in zoning law research and regulatory compliance
