Job Title: 2L Summer Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate position offers second-year JD students a comprehensive introduction to the practice of law and the day-to-day activities of an associate at a law firm. Summer associates will engage in a variety of legal tasks and responsibilities that are designed to emulate the work of a full-time associate. Although specific practice areas are not disclosed, summer associates can expect to engage in:
- Participating in legal research and drafting legal documents
- Assisting in the preparation of legal memoranda and briefs
- Collaborating with attorneys on case strategy and client meetings
- Observing court proceedings and participating in depositions
- Engaging in firm-sponsored training and development programs
- Networking with attorneys and other legal professionals within the firm
Education and Experience Information:
Prospective candidates for the 2L Summer Associate position must be second-year JD students. Candidates are required to submit a resume, an unofficial transcript, and a cover letter as part of their application. Salary Information:
The compensation for the 2L Summer Associate position is based on the annualized salary for a first-year associate in the New York market. The expected full-time base annual salary for this position is $225,000. Summer associates will be compensated at a rate of $4,327 per week during their tenure, which can range from eight to ten consecutive weeks. This salary range reflects the law firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation for the role at the time of posting.
